I use regedit to go to: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall". I then export the branch to a .reg file (right-click, export, current branch) Now I could view a comprehensive list of all installed (or uninstallable items more so) items, so I right click the file and select edit.

The add/remove program comes up, but the system must have recorded the presence of additional program copies on my external hard drive backup system, so now it's looking at those and preventing me from re-uploading the same program after uninstalling it (was told to uninstall and reinstall iTunes by an Apple tech).
