C&C Yachts was a builder of high-performance fiberglass monohull sailboats with production facilities in Canada, Germany, and the United States. [1] C&C designed and constructed a full range of production line cruiser-racer boats, as well as custom one-off and short production run racing and cruising boats.
C&C 30-1 (Mark 1) This model was designed by Cuthbertson & Cassian, introduced in 1973 and over 800 were built. [9] It has a length overall of 30.00 ft (9.1 m), a waterline length of 24.92 ft (7.6 m), displaces 8,000 lb (3,629 kg), carries 3,450 lb (1,565 kg) of lead ballast and has a masthead sloop rig.
The C&C 44 was produced in two versions, Grand Prix and Custom. [4] A small amount of pre-preg fibreglass laminates were used for the hull and a spar from Hall Spars with four-spreaders. [ 4 ] The boats have full-height and full-length longitudinal stiffeners, and honeycomb panels with carbon fiber reinforced polymer skins.
The boat has a draft of 6.50 ft (1.98 m) with the standard keel fitted. [1] [3] The boat is fitted with an inboard engine. Its fuel tank holds 20 U.S. gallons (76 L; 17 imp gal) and the fresh water tank has a capacity of 30 U.S. gallons (110 L; 25 imp gal). [1] [3] The design has a hull speed of 7.32 kn (13.56 km/h) [3]
C&C 25 Mk I C&C 25 Mk I or 25-1 This model was designed by C&C Design and introduced in 1973. It has a length overall of 25.16 ft (7.7 m), a waterline length of 20.67 ft (6.3 m), displaces 4,300 lb (1,950 kg) and carries 1,900 lb (862 kg) of lead ballast.
In a review Michael McGoldrick wrote, "The Viking 28 is a fast, relatively light weight boat that was designed by C&C and built by Ontario Yachts. Its cabin does not have standing headroom, which is something of an oddity for a modern production 28 footer.
Dick Steffen was a competitive sailing racer and thought that there would be a good market for a C&C-built 24 foot keelboat for MORC racing. At his request Cuthbertson & Cassian designed the boat, but decided not to proceed with production at C&C. Steffen bought the design from them and founded Mirage Yachts in February 1972 to build the boat. [5]
