Most are scanned from microfilm into pdf, gif or similar graphic formats and many of the graphic archives have been indexed into searchable text databases utilizing optical character recognition (OCR) technology.

As owner of the Daily Mail and the Daily Mirror, he was an early developer of popular journalism, and he exercised vast influence over British popular opinion during the Edwardian era. [1]

Circulation continued to increase, reaching a peak in the mid-1950s; [ 2 ] sales of the News of the World reached a peak of more than eight million in 1950.
