Adventure Island is a water park located northeast of Tampa, Florida, across the street from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. The park features 30 acres (12 ha) of water rides, dining, and other attractions. The park opened on June 7, 1980, and is part of United Parks & Resorts.
Island Skipper Tours opened with the park in 1999. Boats hosted by employee "skippers" traveled across the central lagoon of the park and were accessible from both the Port of Entry and Jurassic Park areas. This ride was removed in 2001 due to upkeep cost.

Since Universal Studios Florida's opening on June 7, 1990, over 40 attractions have been retired, and usually replaced or re-themed into new attractions, 17 of them being original attractions. The original entrance to the theme park, circa 1993. It was replaced with the current entrance in 1998.
