Keizer (/ ˈ k aɪ z ər /) is a city located in Marion County, Oregon, United States, along the 45th parallel. As of the 2020 United States Census, its population was 39,376, making it the 14th most populous city in Oregon. It lies in the Willamette Valley, and is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Marion County was created by the Provisional Legislature of Oregon on July 5, 1843, as the Champooick District, one of the original four districts of the Oregon Country along with Twality (later Washington), Clackamas, and Yamhill counties. The four districts were redesignated as counties in 1845.

John Ettinger moved to Keizer in the late 1970s and was encouraged by local merchants to launch his own newspaper. [4] The first issue of the Keizertimes was published on Oct. 3, 1979. [ 5 ] The paper was originally sent to people's residences twice a month for free but in 1982 it transitioned into a weekly paid-subscription model.
