Art Stage Singapore was founded by Lorenzo Rudolf. [1] Rudolf initially rejected a proposal to launch Art Basel in Singapore in 1992 but later revisited the idea of creating a unique Asian art fair. The fair took nine years to be realized. The first edition was held in 2011 at Marina Bay Sands.
The inaugural Singapore Art Show was launched on 23 September 2005, which included exhibitions, public art projects, and the television premiere of a commissioned work, 4x4—Episodes of Singapore Art by Ho Tzu Nyen. [1] A main platform of the Art Show was the Singapore Art Exhibition, which was held at the Singapore Art Museum. [3]
