Bayou Plaquemine Brulé (/ ˈ p l æ k ɪ m ɪ n ˈ b r uː l i / PLAK-im-in BROO-lee; historically spelled Plakemine; [1] translating to "burnt persimmon bayou") [2] is a waterway in the Mermentau River basin of south Louisiana. The bayou is 58 miles (93 km) long [3] and is navigable for 19 miles (31 km) of its lower course. [4]
