There are at least 183 parks maintained by Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation , many of which are in unincorporated areas of the county.
Municipal parks come under the administration of the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The overseeing body is the Department of Recreation and Park Board of Commissioners. [ 5 ] The first parks date back to 1889 under the City's first Freeholder Charter.

Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park is a man-made recreational area in San Dimas, California, United States, in Los Angeles County. It is near the Orange Freeway (State Route 57), the Foothill Freeway (Interstate 210) and the San Bernardino Freeway (Interstate 10). It is named after former LA County Supervisor Frank G. Bonelli. In 1968, the city leased the land to the County of Los Angeles for twenty-five years, with an agreement that the area would be developed into a regional park. When the land was returned to the city in 1994, the County had invested $900,000 into park improvements and had renamed it after Ernest E. Debs, a deceased county supervisor). [3]
