Sofitel Hotels & Resorts is a French hotel chain of luxury hotels based in Paris, France, and owned by Accor since 1980. Founded in 1964 in France, Sofitel quickly developed worldwide to reach more than 200 properties. In 2008, Sofitel became a brand of luxury hotels only, downsized its property count to 89, and created new brands.
Claridge's was founded in 1812 as Mivart's Hotel, in a conventional London terraced house, and it grew by expanding into neighbouring houses.In 1854, the founder (the father of biologist St. George Jackson Mivart) sold the hotel to a Mr and Mrs Claridge, who owned a smaller hotel next door.

The St. James Hotel is an historic, 12-story hotel in Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was designed by Horace Trumbauer and was built in 1901, with an addition being constructed in 1904. [ 2 ]
James Finlay was born in Killearn Stirlingshire in 1727. He started work in the textile trade until he had enough money to become a merchant and manufacturer. In 1769 he was made a "Burgess and Gild Brother" in Glasgow enabling him to build up a modest business. When James died in 1790, the assets of the firm were £11, 785.
