Rabbit Ears Pass offers one of the best places to snowmobile in all of Northwest Colorado. Summer activities on the pass include the increasingly popular "Run Rabbit Run" 50 mile or 100 mile trail run. The area offers many car camping spots and hiking trails. One of the most popular summer sports to take place on the pass is road biking.
The Colorado Department of Transportation designates the road as Gunnison County Road (GCR) 12. The eastern terminus of GCR 12 is Crested Butte.
