The North Dakota Fighting Hawks softball team is a part of the athletic program at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. They are members of the NCAA Division I Summit League. The program only includes a women's team. The current Fighting Hawks softball head coach is Jordan Stevens.
The Sam McQuade Sr. softball tournament is an annual charity softball event held in the Bismarck–Mandan area of North Dakota.Officially the "Sam McQuade Sr./Budweiser Charity Softball Tournament", this event draws approximately 400 teams from the United States and Canada areas, as well as roughly 15,000 fans that attend the event. The Summit League softball tournament is the conference softball championship of the NCAA Division I's Summit League. The top six finishers in the regular season of the conference's eight teams advance to the modified double-elimination tournament , which in 2025 will be held at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium in Brookings, South Dakota .

The Bison finished the 2022 season with a 30-23 record, and a 10-8 record in Summit League play. NDSU played in the Summit League tournament as the 3rd seed. [3] They defeated North Dakota [4] and Omaha, before falling to South Dakota State and then Omaha in the elimination game to end their season in the semifinals.
