The Thrissur Pooram is an annual Hindu temple festival held in Thrissur, Kerala, India. It is held at the Vadakkunnathan Temple in Thrissur every year on the Pooram day—the day when the moon rises with the Pooram star in the Malayalam Calendar month of Medam. It is the largest and most famous of all poorams in India. [2]
Later Thrissur Municipal Corporation took over the event till 1967 and was known as All India Agricultural, Industrial and Educational Exhibition. In 1963 Thrissur Municipal Corporation handed over the exhibition to Paramekkavu and Thiruvambadi Devaswoms. From the next year onwards, it was renamed as Thrissur Pooram Exhibition. [4]
