Great Wolf Lodge is a resort and outdoor waterpark of 30 acres (12 ha) located in Gurnee, Illinois near Six Flags Great America and Gurnee Mills. The resort is operated by Great Wolf Resorts. It had originally opened in 2008 as Key Lime Cove and was listed as the "Official Resort of Six Flags Great America". [3]
Cypress Cove was designed by Michael Williams, CEO Williams Architects, [4] and was designed to allow future expansion on the 8.5-acre (34,000 m 2) lot. [2] Because the park was built near wetlands in the town, Cypress Cove attempted to create a bayou theme with its architecture, including creating split-level roofs, and wood facades, as well in landscaping by planting daylilies, and wild grasses.
The Marquis Tower, Surfari Water Park, and Flip Flop's Family Fun Center opened in 2018 and the third and final Sterling Tower opened in November 2019. [3] At northern end of the resort property, development on The Terraces vacation homes began in the summer of 2020. The phase will add 160 vacation homes and will be completed in 2022. [4]
The water park was attached to the Radisson Hotel. Both the hotel and the water park were managed by Evolution Hospitality. In January 2017, it was announced that Great Wolf Resorts had purchased the property. The hotel and waterpark closed for renovations and rebranding as a Great Wolf Resort. Great Wolf reopened the property in December 2017. [1]
