Little Rural Riding Hood is a 1949 MGM animated cartoon short subject directed by Tex Avery, conceived as a follow-up to his 1943 cartoon Red Hot Riding Hood. [1] In 1994, the cartoon was ranked in 23rd place of The 50 Greatest Cartoons. [2] It is essentially a retelling of the Aesop fable, "The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse".
Red Riding Hood had its world premiere at Hollywood on March 7, 2011, and was theatrically released on March 11, 2011, by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film was panned by critics but was a moderate success financially, grossing $97.8 million worldwide against its $42 million budget.
The film's plot is a dark take on the fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood". [2] The film premiered at the 1996 Sundance Film Festival where it competed for the Grand Jury Prize. It was later screened on HBO on June 8, 1996, and due to favorable reviews, it was given a brief theatrical release. The film has gone on to achieve cult status.
