The most northeastern portion of the county is in the Driftless Area of Illinois, where the Apple River meets the Upper Mississippi River. According to the 2010 census, Fulton has a total area of 2.334 square miles (6.05 km 2), of which 2.27 square miles (5.88 km 2) (or 97.26%) is land and 0.064 square miles (0.17 km 2) (or 2.74%) is water. Fulton County is a county in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2020 census, it had a population of 33,609. [1] Its county seat is Lewistown, [2] and the largest city is Canton. Fulton County comprises the Canton, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is part of the Peoria-Canton, IL Combined Statistical Area.
The 17th congressional district of Illinois is represented by Democrat Eric Sorensen. It includes most of the northwestern portion of the state, with most of its population living on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities , as well as parts of Peoria and Rockford .

Fulton Market District is on the Near West Side of Chicago. In the 19th and 20th centuries, it served meat-packing, warehouse and industrial purposes, but has gentrified in the 21st century with corporate headquarters, tech industry, hotels, bars, restaurants, and retail. [ 1 ]
The 15th congressional district of Illinois is currently located in central Illinois. It was located in eastern and southeastern Illinois until 2022. It is currently represented by Republican Mary Miller. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of R+22, it is one of the most Republican-leaning districts in Illinois. [2]
Canton is located in northeastern Fulton County at Illinois Routes 9 and 78 pass through the downtown together. IL 9 leads east 8 miles (13 km) to Banner near the Illinois River and west 27 miles (43 km) to Bushnell, while IL 78 leads north 10 miles (16 km) to Farmington and south 11 miles (18 km) to Little America in the Illinois River valley.
