MOB also chose to electrify it from the beginning, which resulted in the metre-gauge Montreux-to-Zweisimmen line with 900 V DC electrification, completed by 1905. By 1916, it was possible to travel by train from Montreux to Lucerne with two changes – one at Zweisimmen and another at Interlaken East – then known as the GoldenPass Line.

Montreux railway station (French: Gare de Montreux) is the largest of the railway stations serving the municipality of Montreux, in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland.. All of the SBB-CFF-FFS standard gauge passenger trains operating on the Simplon line call at this station, which is also the western terminus of the GoldenPass Line narrow gauge railway lines to Zweisimmen and to Rochers de Naye.
The Montreux–Lenk im Simmental line is a metre-gauge electric railway line in Switzerland run by the Montreux Oberland Bernois Railway (MOB) and links Montreux on Lake Geneva by way of Les Avants, Montbovon, Rossinière, Château-d'Œx, Rougemont, Saanen, Gstaad and Zweisimmen with Lenk im Simmental.
The section from Montreux to Zweisimmen, approximately 63 km (39 mi) long, is part of the "Golden Pass Panorama" trip from Montreux to Interlaken (and further to Lucerne), a trip which combines rides on the MOB, for some connections the BLS, and from Interlaken onwards the Zentralbahn (zb). Zweisimmen railway station (German: Bahnhof Zweisimmen) is a railway station in the municipality of Zweisimmen, in the Swiss canton of Bern.It is the terminus of the standard gauge Spiez–Zweisimmen line (from north) and of the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3 + 3 ⁄ 8 in) Montreux–Zweisimmen and Zweisimmen–Lenk im Simmental lines (separately from south, Montreux–Lenk im Simmental line).
