JoAnn Maxey (March 6, 1940 – July 14, 1992) was an American politician who was the first Black woman to serve in the Nebraska Legislature.Appointed by the governor to fill another legislator's unexpired term, she served in the unicameral state legislature from 1977 to 1979, representing the 46th district in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Tisdel (born May 28, 1975) [2] is an American woman whose early life and involvement with the December 1993 murders of Brandon Teena, Lisa Lambert, and Phillip DeVine at the hands of John Lotter and Tom Nissen is chronicled in the 1998 documentary The Brandon Teena Story and the 1999 film Boys Don't Cry (which left out DeVine).
