The Guernsey Police, is the police service for the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a jurisdictional sub-group of Crown Dependencies within the Channel Islands.. The service's enforcement jurisdiction extends across the entire bailiwick and encompasses the Islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Herm, and Sark.
The longer-serving Constable is known as the Senior Constable and his or her colleague as the Junior Constable. Historically the Constables have been in existence since at least 1481 although their duties have been reduced over the centuries. [6] Both Douzeniers and Constables can be removed by the Royal Court for failing in their duty.
Two elected Constables carry out the decisions of the Douzaine, serving for between one and three years. Connétables or constables (Jèrriais: Connétabl'ye) are the civic heads of the twelve parishes of Jersey and ten parishes of Guernsey. The Connétable is grounded in Norman customary law . [ 1 ] The structure, powers and responsibilities of the role differ between the islands, reflecting their different political histories.

The castle stayed in the Carey family until William Wilfred Carey sold it in 1912. [25] During the Second World War, the Germans occupying Guernsey used Castle Carey as an officers’ club.

The Bailiff of Guernsey is the civil head of the Bailiwick, and is also president of the States of Guernsey and head of the Bailiwick's judiciary.
