Each year the Bill Evans Award is given to the person chosen as the best high school boys basketball player in the U.S. state of West Virginia. The award winner is selected by members of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association. The award has been given annually since 1970. [1]
Following several years of low attendance, the league announce it would move the event to the Wheeling Civic Center for at least 2019 and 2020. [ 2 ] The winner, declared conference champion, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament .

In 2000, Wojcik returned to Wheeling Central Catholic High School to be athletic director, a position he would hold until 2003. Wojcik also was varsity boys' basketball head coach at Wheeling Central Catholic from 2001 to 2003 and led the school to two West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission class A titles in 2002 and 2003.
