The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) is a certificate awarded upon satisfactory result in an examination conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, a private board designed to provide an examination in a course of general education, in accordance with the recommendations of the New Education Policy 2020 (), through the medium of English.
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) [1] is a non-governmental privately held national-level [2] [3] board of school education in India that conducts the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Examination for Class X and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) for Class XII.
National Curriculum and Textbook Board traces its origins to the East Pakistan School Textbook Board which was established in 1954. In 1971, the Bangladesh School Textbook Board was established. In 1976 it was constituted as the National Curriculum and Syllabus Committee and the National Curriculum Development Centre was established in 1981.
It was established in 1969 by the late Hazi Noor Mohammad. The school offers education from class I to class XII, and the college offers undergraduate courses in arts, science, and commerce. The school and college are affiliated with the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) and the University of Dhaka, respectively.

Before, this qualification was graded on an 8-point scale from A* to G with a 9th grade “U” signifying “Ungraded”. This measure of grading was also found in the UK GCSE. Most IGCSE subjects offer a choice of tiered examinations: Core or Extended papers (in Cambridge International), and Foundation or Higher papers (in Edexcel).
