uShaka Marine World is a 16-hectare (40-acre) theme park that opened on 30 April 2004 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It has a total capacity of 4.6 million gallons containing 10,000 animal species.
Marine World/Africa USA was an animal theme park located in the Redwood Shores area of Redwood City, California. [1] The park was named Marine World when it first opened in 1968, before merging with a land-animal park called Africa USA in 1972.
The South African Association for Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR) was established in 1951 by a group of conservationists, academics and fishermen who were concerned about the future of marine conservation in South Africa. From 1959 the organisation was housed in the Durban Centenary Aquarium, with laboratories and a library.

The ocean park holds the Guinness world record for being the largest aquarium in the world, it also had the largest aquarium window in the world according to the Guinness World Records, a single acrylic panel measuring 39.6 by 8.3 metres (130 by 27 ft). The Journey of Lights parade won the 2018 Thea Award for outstanding achievement - live show.
