The 8-day Blackpool Dance Festival is the world's first and most famous annual ballroom dance competition of international significance, held in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, England, since 1920.

Barbara Joanne McColl Stopford BEM (née McColl) is a Scottish professional ballroom dancer, teacher, and adjudicator.She specializes in International Latin. With Sammy Stopford, she won in the professional Latin category four times at the Blackpool Dance Festival and three times at the UK Open.
The venue was built in 1896. [4] It was designed by Manghall and Littlewood of Manchester, and decorated by J.M.Boekbinder. At 110 by 189 ft (34 by 58 m) with 20,790 sq ft (1,931 m 2) of floor space, the ballroom was one of the largest in the world.
Miss Dance of Great Britain is a long running theatre dance competition for girls, established and organised by the International Dance Teachers Association.The national finals are held annually at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, England.
