A 26-episode anime television series adaptation produced by Ufotable aired from April to September 2019, with a sequel film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, released in October 2020 and became the highest-grossing anime film and Japanese film of all time.
It is a direct sequel to the third season of the anime television series as well as its third film adaptation, following Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train (2020) and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village (2023). Tanjiro and the others proceed to battle Susumaru and Yahaba, who claim themselves to be members of Kibutsuji’s Twelve Kizuki. As Tanjiro manages to behead Yahaba and endure long enough for the demon to fully disintegrate, Tamayo uses her Demon Blood Art to trick Susumaru into uttering Kibutsuji’s name with his cells destroying her.
