Nirvana recorded a version of "Dumb" for the BBC at Maida Vale Studios, England, in September 1991, two years before the song's official release on In Utero. "Dumb" was written by Cobain in the summer of 1990, as the band began to move away from the heavier grunge sound of their debut album, Bleach, towards more openly melodic, pop-influenced material. [5]
The song's bridge in particular can be seen as painting a serene picture, with Cobain singing "Skin the sun, fall asleep/Wish away; the soul is cheap" in a nursery rhyme rhythm. "Dumb" was written over a year before Cobain's addiction to heroin. However, some believe the song was partially inspired by his earliest flirtations with the drug.

Bangin' is the second album by the English pop rock band the Outfield, released in 1987. [2] [3] It yielded the top 40 hit, "Since You've Been Gone". The album also contained two other singles, "No Surrender" and "Bangin' on My Heart". "Bangin' on My Heart" reached number 40 on the Billboard rock chart. The album was certified gold by the RIAA.
In the wake of Cobain’s death, the show’s funereal tone took on a new meaning. The band’s light-hearted between-song banter was also edited out of the original TV broadcast.
The guitar was heavily out of tune by the opening chords of "Love Buzz". Cobain tried to retune it several times during the song, but without success, leading him to throw it on the ground at around 2:30 into the performance. [19] For the next song he returned to the sunburst Stratocaster which he then played for the rest of the evening. [12]
