Huilgol Narayana Rao (4 October 1884 - 4 July 1971) was a popular Indian playwright in the modern Kannada literature and a freedom fighter.Narayana Rao is best known as the poet who composed the then state anthem of the Karnataka State Udayavagali Namma Cheluva Kannada Nadu which heralded the birth of Karnataka. Cheluva is a 1997 Kannada comedy-drama film directed and enacted by V. Ravichandran in dual roles. The rest of the cast includes Meena , Gautami and Tiger Prabhakar among others. Cheluvina Chittara (transl. Galant Design) is a 2007 Kannada-language film directed and produced by S. Narayan. Ganesh, Amoolya played the lead roles. The music was composed by Mano Murthy. This film is a remake of Tamil film Kaadhal.
