Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net.Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side).
The Badminton World Federation, aka BWF, is the international governing body for the sport of badminton approved by the International Olympic Committee. It was founded on 5 July 1934 as the International Badminton Federation with nine member nations: Canada , Denmark , England , France , Ireland , Netherlands , New Zealand , Scotland and Wales .
The World Badminton Federation was established as a result of the dissatisfaction of some badminton nations, led by then non-IBF member China, with the policies of the International Badminton Federation, the governing body of international badminton formed in the 1930s.
Victor was founded in 1968 by Chen Den-li (陳登立), producing badminton shuttlecocks which in two years topped the sales in Taiwan.[4] [5] It expanded its distribution to Europe after Guido Schmidt started the distribution with VICTOR Sport Vertriebs GmbH as the trademark rights holder for the continent. The Australian Badminton Association was formed in 1932, and shortly after Australia became the 11th member of the International Badminton Federation. In 1936, alongside New Zealand, it formed the Oceania Badminton Confederation [3] (now known as Badminton Oceania). The current national office for BA is located in Melbourne, Victoria.
Yonex sponsors the All England Open Badminton Championships and is a partner of the Badminton World Federation which organizes the World Championships. [5] Upwards of 80% of competitive players use their racquets, as it is the preferred choice amongst professionals. [ 6 ]
