02-18-2015 08:12 AM. Century 3200 and Century Boats in General. I am posting this information about Century Boats as there is much misinformation about Century on THT. I must say I really hate that people will literally and blatantly lie on this forum as it is obvious to an owner that they know nothing about the boat.

Also call Century at (850) 769-0311 and ask for the Tampa Bay Area Regional Rep. They will be glad to chat with you about their boats, their history, and their recent production changes. I spoke to the Cobia Rep several months back - an Aussie gentleman who was full of information and a pleasure to talk to.

A quick scan of the deck told us that Century designed the topside layout with day tripping as well as fishing in mind. The boat has cushions—and lots of them. At the bow, two raised storage compartments lie along the hull sides. Pads can be snapped on top, and bolsters serve as backrests.

  5. Century Boats? - The Hull Truth

Definitely do not buy a pre-1998 Century. Thats when I think Yamaha bought them. The delamination issues seem to be well behind them and Century could do a better job of cleaning up their rep even if the issue was the responsibility if the previous owner ( of Century inc.) The bay boats and the deck boats seem to be identical.

Yamaha purchased Century in 1995 as part of a plan to grow market share for its outboard motors in the offshore category. Annual sales for Century peaked in 2007 at more than 1,000 boats annually. Yamaha also owns Skeeter Boats, of Kilgore, Texas, and G3 Boats of Lebanon, Mo. Skeeter and G3 were not impacted by this decision, the company said.

Because of the direct assistance from Yamaha, there’s a new form of glass being used, there’s a new epoxy being used, assembly of the boats is dramatically different than it was pre-2000, and hulls have been redesigned for a better ride. As Conch mentions, go back into the THT archives and search on Century and Cobia boats.

By this, i mean of course, *NO WOOD-CORE* under the water line or in the floor deck. Transom, gunwails, stringers, hull, floors, etc. If you have wood trim, or wood-cored console, we'll keep it on the list. Basically, if it can be unbolted without compromising the original gelcoat, that's good enough.

My son has a 2007 Century 26 Walkaround with twin Yamahas 150. We have gone fishing more than 30 miles east of Jacksonville. The boat has a soft, dry ride. Top speed is in the high 40's. The boat does exceptionally well with the 150's, good out of the hole, great top speed and very decent fuel economy.
