The series is a spin-off of Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online light novel series and its adaptation was announced at the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival 2017 event in October 2017. [1] It is produced by Egg Firm and animated by studio 3Hz, directed by Masayuki Sakoi, and written by Yōsuke Kuroda, with character designs by Yoshio Kosakai.
The series was supplemented by numerous original video animation releases and also inspired several spin-off works whose media ranges from serialized light novels to video games. The TV anime was originally licensed by the now-defunct Central Park Media , which released the series on DVD and VHS.
