The genesis of the Cleveland Metropolitan Park System began with a vision by William Albert Stinchcomb in the early 20th century. Birdwatchers frequent the park, and fishing is available along the Potomac River. Fort Washington Is open year-round. The park grounds are open from 8 am to sunset. The historic fort and the visitor center are open from 9 am to 4 pm during winter months and 9 am to 5 pm during the summer months. Alcohol is prohibited in the park.
