The library has three floors with over 250,000 books and e-books, thousands of periodical titles, and over 140 online databases. The library offers: public terminals for internet access and printing; research computers with access to the catalog; and WSU database access to anyone in the library building; forty-two high end multimedia computer towers, both Macintosh and PC platforms are supported.

Today, Columbus is governed by a mayor and a city council. The city is located in the Omaha media market, and has 6 radio stations licensed to it; it is also home to the Columbus Telegram, a newspaper published five days per week. A campus of Central Community College is located 4 miles (6 km) outside Columbus; its sports teams are the Raiders.
Winona State softball is led by Greg Jones, who has coached the Warriors since the 2001 season. [9] The Warriors have made the NCAA tournament ten times, most recently in 2014. [ 9 ] [ 10 ] The Warriors have appeared in two Women's College World Series , in 1974 (no divisions) [ 11 ] and 2009.
