The original Mayville High School was built around 1850 as a one-room schoolhouse that housed all grades. [4] The current building was built in 1964. [5] After a failed 2015 referendum, [5] a 2017 referendum to add a STEAM addition to the school passed; construction began in April 2018. [6]

Audubon Days is a culmination of Mayville's historic German roots, with festivities that include bed races, the "Taste of Mayville" food tent, duck races, a parade, kids games/crafts and live music. Immanuel Lutheran School was founded in 1855 and is one of the oldest continually operating elementary schools in the state of Wisconsin. In the 2013–2014 school year, Immanuel's Kindergarten class scored higher than 99% of schools in the nation on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.
