The Shonar Bangla Express (Train no. 787/788) is an inter-city rail service run by Bangladesh Railway. This service provides a swift and luxurious passenger rail connection between the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka to the port city of Chattogram. This service only has one intermediate stop at Dhaka Airport. [1]

The Dhaka–Chittagong high-speed railway was a proposed high-speed rail line connecting Dhaka, the capital and largest city, with the southeast harbour city of Chittagong. The project was estimated to cost ৳96,752 crore (US$11.4 billion). [1] The project was shelved indefinitely on 2021 owing to weak economy. [2]
