NZX Centre (the taller building), 2007. NZX began life as a number of regional stock exchanges during the gold rush of the 1860s. The first brokers’ association was started in Dunedin in 1867, then in Otago in 1868, Auckland in 1872, [4] Wellington in 1882.
The index was introduced as the NZSX 50 Index in March 2003 and replaced the NZSE 40 Index as the headline index. It was renamed the NZX 50 Index in late 2005. Chorus is a provider of telecommunications infrastructure throughout New Zealand.It is listed on the NZX stock exchange and is in the NZX 50 Index.The company owns the majority of telephone lines and exchange equipment in New Zealand; and was responsible for building approximately 70% of the country's fibre-optic UFB network, receiving a government subsidy of $929 million to do so.
