The National Association of Realtors (NAR) is an American trade association [5] for those who work in the real estate industry. As of December 2023, it had over 1.5 million members, [6] making it the largest trade association in the United States [7] including NAR's institutes, societies, and councils, involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
The National Association of Realtors maintains rules that each MLS owned by a local association of Realtors is required to follow. In 1996, as part of its rules governing multiple listing services, NAR adopted a rule requiring Realtors to make "blanket unilateral offers of compensation" when listing homes for sale on an MLS. [7]
Through a complicated arrangement, the National Association of Realtors (NAR), a trade and lobbying group for agents and brokers, sets policies for most of the multiple listing services.
Lobbying and Advocacy The Association is the lobbying arm of the real estate sector in Uganda and does so, on behalf of its members. The body has lobbied on tax issues in Parliament, regulatory environment with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and does make presentations on housing forums representing the real estate industry.

NAREB was created by African-American real estate professionals as an alternative space for African-Americans who were racially and specifically excluded from the National Association of Realtors.
The Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO), founded in 1930 in Canada, supports regulatory agencies in the administration and enforcement of real estate license (or registration) laws in their respective jurisdictions. Among its positions, the organization encourages licensure and education recognition between jurisdictions.
NSAR is the first provincial association to change its formal name to incorporate the REALTOR trademark. The mission of the Association is to enhance Realtors' success by providing services and education to better help them serve the public in real estate transactions. The Association also acts as the voice of real estate in Nova Scotia.
