Alexis Martínez (27 February 1980 – 24 December 2009) was a Spanish animal trainer, notable as the victim of a fatal attack by an orca (killer whale). He was killed by a SeaWorld-owned orca, Keto, held at Loro Parque's Orca Ocean in the Canary Islands. [1] [2]

On June 13, 2022, an unidentified trainer was washing "paint and food chips" out of the mouth of the two-and-a-half-ton killer whale, Malia. The trainer was said to have broken the three foot rule and moved her right arm across the whale's mouth when the whale bit down and then "immediately" released the trainer.

On February 24, 2010, 40-year-old trainer Dawn Brancheau, who had 15 years of experience at the park, died in another incident involving Tilikum. SeaWorld's head of animal training said that during a rubdown after the show, Tilikum pulled Brancheau into the water by her ponytail, and she drowned.
