Privates (PV2) rank insignia are sometimes called "Mosquito Wings" (from the appearance of the single chevron). Privates are called "Buck Privates" because they are the lowest rank of private. An E-1 Private may be referred to as "E-Nothing", or "PV-Nothing" (as opposed to PV2, the next rank) due to their lack of rank insignia.
