If you think just Amazon is doing this, you’re sadly mistaken. I agree that Amazon is getting as much labor out of Flex drivers as possible at the lowest rate possible. This is a basic principle of logistics world-wide for delivery drivers, whether you’re driving your POV or driving a semi. They are going to pay you the lowest rate possible.
So I hoped on into Amazon flex back in July looking for a job that seemed easy to do with 5 kids . I didn’t know much about payments I just saw the option when looking for jobs and when I made the account seeing that it was paying $70 for 3.5 hour job I thought it was the best deal ever .

No idea what happened for the OP, but I consistently make more money with Amazon Flex. I get done with every block about 1+ hours early. Even the shit blocks I finish early. I usually have roughly 40-45 packages for each block. All the night shift blocks at my location are scheduled for 4 hours, but quite often you get smaller blocks.

Not that other jobs don't give you the same opportunity, but literally everyone orders from amazon. Amazon keeps a stockpile of new drivers on tap for the sole purpose of keeping the pay down. The longer you drive for flex, the better you get at catching surge blocks, learning the mechanics of the offer page and getting to know your delivery area well enough that you know how much you need to make in order for any route they give you to make financial sense.
