Sacandaga Lake (sa-kuhn-DAH-ga) is located in the Town of Lake Pleasant in Hamilton County, New York approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Speculator. [ 3 ] [ 4 ] The outlet is a channel that leads to Lake Pleasant , which is the source of the Sacandaga River .
Located in northwestern part of Saratoga County, Edinburg has one of the few covered bridges left in New York State, the only one left in the county. Today the shores of the reservoir, renamed The Great Sacandaga Lake in the 1960's, are dotted with hundreds of seasonal homes. Two farms remain from the original buildings.
The Sacandaga River enters the lake to the west of the village. The river and lake are part of the Hudson River watershed. The village is just east of New York State Route 30 , connected to the highway by a bridge over the Sacandaga River, and is also served by County Roads 143, 149, and 153.

The lake is about four miles (6.4 km) long and about one mile (1.6 km) wide with its length oriented in an approximate northeast to southwest direction, the widest part at the northeast end.
