U.S. Highway 12 (US 12 or Highway 12) in the U.S. state of Wisconsin runs east–west across the western to southeast portions of the state. It enters from Minnesota running concurrently with Interstate 94 (I-94) at Hudson, parallels the Interstate to Wisconsin Dells, and provides local access to cities such as Menomonie, Eau Claire, Black River Falls, Tomah, and Mauston.
After that, it passes the Amery Municipal Airport (which is north of the river). Then, the route enters Amery. Before meeting US 8, WIS 46 then crosses the Apple River again. After crossing the river, it then turns west, traveling along US 8 for around a couple of miles. Meanwhile, WIS 46, as well as US 8, cross the aforementioned Apple River.
Entering Wisconsin, it meets Wisconsin Highway 35 (WIS 35) at a four-way stop in Hager City. The route continues north for 9.1 miles (14.6 km) until it intersects with US 10 outside Ellsworth. US 63 and US 10 then run concurrently eastward into Ellsworth's downtown area, where they encounter the southern end of WIS 65.

Amery (/ ˈ eɪ m ər i / AY-mər-ee) [6] is a city in Polk County, Wisconsin, United States, along the Apple River. It is a part of Wisconsin's 7th congressional district . The population was 2,902 at the 2010 census .

An 1871 proposal map shows the route from Saint Paul joining the Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad at Tomah, Wisconsin. [1] The West Wisconsin Railway was authorized in 1876 to build from St. Paul, Minnesota through to reach the Chicago and North Western Railway at Elroy, Wisconsin. [2] It crossed the Milwaukee Road at Camp Douglas, instead of Tomah.
