Some people just love haggling and negotiating. If you’re not one of those people, then think about what your time and sanity is worth. If it’s not worth $3-500 on a $50k car, then maybe you should reevaluate purchasing a brand new car. That’s a product of a good dealership, not the Costco program.
My experience seems to be much different than everyone else on here. I got an email from Costco going through the car specials through their buying program. It just so happened they had a $1500 reduction through the program on the specific car that I was looking for.
On costco.com, search for "car batteries", then click on "Find my automotive battery", which takes you to https://costco.interstatebatteries.com. Or just go to that URL yourself. Search for the battery model for your car, call your nearest Costco tire center to see if they carry it, and if not, ask them where the nearest tire center is that ...
Costco Auto experience, January 2023. [Costco Auto Program] I just purchased an Outback using the Costco Auto program, and thought I'd share my experience in case anyone out there is curious how it works now post-pandemic (as I was before I purchased). BACKGROUND: I've used Costco Auto twice before, and am generally happy with the experience.
It's hard to see what the starting point for savings would be on the car we're looking for without being a member, but I have heard that it can be pretty significant. (and certainly more significant than the $60-120 membership cost.) For what it's worth, our top car choice right now is a new 2024 Subaru Forester.
Costco is picky about what dealers it allows to represent it. The CostCo buying program is a mixed bag. A lot of the deals going through there are going to be little or no profit. Seems like some dealers go into it saying "Fuck it, it will help us get units and we can't expect to make money off of those deals".
Yep. Same experience back in September. The model vehicle (Honda HRV) we were looking at didn't qualify for any discounts through the Costco Auto Program at the time. However, the dealer offered a whopping $350 off full MSRP + $2000 of non negotiable dealer add-ons.
Finally since we would rather not pay a company $399 per transaction like Truecar charges, most of us just list our best prices on our own website to just cut out the middle men. With the Costco car buying program how is the dealer choosen. Within 50 miles of me there are a lot of dealers of the same brand.
I’ve had poor results both times using it. Coincidentally at 2 different Mazda dealers 900 miles apart. Both times I ended up negotiating a better price myself. So I learned the costco program price is not the end all be all for a car buying experience and you can still negotiate after seeing the price. 1.
The Costco price is an easy decent deal, it is not the best price you can get. This time of year dealerships are eager for a sale. I just got a new car and negotiated a hell of a deal, dealership sent their best deal along with the Costco deal and I was able to get a few hundred on top of that already better than the Costco deal.
