The Nebraska Cornhuskers women's beach volleyball team began play in the spring of 2013 as the school's twenty-second intercollegiate sport. In 2016, the NCAA began sponsoring a beach volleyball tournament (previously the sport was run by the AVCA ), but Nebraska did not attempt to qualify.
The portal launched on October 15, 2018. [4] New regulations adopted in 2021 allow student-athletes in D-I football, men's and women's basketball, men's ice hockey, and baseball to change schools using the portal once without sitting out a year after the transfer, creating uniform transfer rules for all NCAA sports across all divisions. John G. Cook (born April 19, 1956) is an American volleyball coach who is the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers women's college volleyball team. In twenty-five seasons at Nebraska, he has led the Cornhuskers to four national championships (2000, 2006, 2015, 2017) and fifteen conference titles.
