Banteay Srei (Khmer: បន្ទាយស្រី [ɓɑntiəj srəj]) is a 10th century CE Cambodian temple dedicated to the Hindu gods Shiva and Parvati.Located in the area of Angkor, it lies near the hill of Phnom Dei, 25 km (16 mi) north-east of the main group of temples that once belonged to the medieval capitals of Yaśodharapura and Angkor Thom. Banteay Samré (Khmer: បន្ទាយសំរែ [ɓɑntiəj sɑmrae]; "The Citadel of the Samré") is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, located 400 metres to the east of the East Baray. [1] Built during the reign of Suryavarman II [ 2 ] : 119 and Yasovarman II in the early 12th century, it is a Hindu temple in the Angkor Wat style.
The temples of Angkor Wat (pictured), Angkor Thom, Bayon, and the nearby Banteay Srei and the temples of Roluos depict different periods of Khmer architecture and are richly decorated with sculptures and stone carvings. Khmer art had an important influence on the wider region.
