Browning is probably best remembered today as the inspiration behind the Hillerich & Bradsby company's popular "Louisville Slugger" line of baseball bats. In 1884, Browning became one of the first professional players to purchase and use the company's bats. They trademarked the name in 1894 to honor his patronage and capitalize on his fame.
