    To check if the memory windows uses is capped. Click on start. In the search bar type : MSCONFIG. Press enter. A new window will open. Click on the boot tab at the top of the new window. Then click on the Advanced option tab. A new window will open. To the top left you will see a tick box for maximum memory.

    Installed RAM 8.00 GB ... System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor . Pen and touch Touch support with 10 touch points. Left of the comma on System Type is the bits of the Windows OS that is installed. If yours is only 32-bit it won't be able to use all 8 GB. Right of the comma is the architecture of the processor.
