Hanston USD 228 dissolved to merge into Jetmore USD 227 in 2011, which at some point was renamed to Hodgeman County USD 227. Healy USD 468 dissolved to merge into Scott County USD 466 in summer 2025. [2] Jewell USD 279 dissolved and split to merge into Beloit USD 273 and Rock Hills USD 107 on July 1, 2009.
Clearwater was settled in 1870, and platted as a city in 1872. [4] The community was named after the Ninnescah River that runs west and south of it. The name "Ninnescah" comes from the Osage Indian language, where "Ninne" means water and "scah" can mean clear, salt, spring, good, or white water. [5]
The district's voters, in November 2019, voted in favor of a bond to build a consolidated school. The Clearwater voters approved on a 332-103 basis, Ewing voters approved on a 360-38 basis, and Orchard approved on a 289-230 basis. [2] The Ewing, then Clearwater, and then Orchard results were announced. [5] The bond has a cost of $34.3 million.
