William MacLeod Raine (June 22, 1871 – July 25, 1954) was a British-born American novelist who wrote fictional adventure stories about the American Old West. Raine circa 1902. Raine's novel Men in the Raw appeared in The Argosy in 1915.

Battles at White Sulphur Springs, Droop Mountain, and Third Winchester were the most significant fighting for the battalion.
