The Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE-Advanced) (formerly the Indian Institute of Technology – Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE)) is an academic examination held annually in India that tests the skills and knowledge of the applicants in physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Resonance – Journal of Science Education is a monthly peer-reviewed academic journal covering science education. It is currently being published by Springer Science+Business Media on behalf of the Indian Academy of Sciences and the editor-in-chief is Prof. B Sury. The journal was established in 1996.
On 18 June 2012, a more specific format was proposed by a joint meeting of the councils of IITs, NITs, and IIITs. As per this proposal, the exam would be called the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and would be made up of two parts, JEE-Main [9] and JEE-Advanced. Two distinct "patterns of admission" would be used.
In 2021, 2022, and 2023, it was conducted by IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay and IIT Guwahati respectively. The top 250,000 students of JEE Main qualify to appear for the JEE-Advanced examination. The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at the examination is limited to three in consecutive years. As of 2018, the top 2,24,000 rankers of JEE-Main will qualify to take the second and final level of examination: JEE-Advanced. this number of 2.24 lakh is not fixed this may vary as per difficulty level of paper of JEE-Main.
