Shooto is a Japan-based mixed martial arts (MMA) promoting and sanctioning organization founded first in 1985 as a particular fighting system, and then in 1989 as an MMA promotion. Shooto used to promote different weight classes than the Association of Boxing Commissions, which are used by most MMA promotions.
