Saint Charles Preparatory School is a four-year Catholic college preparatory school in Columbus, Ohio, US. It was founded in 1923 by the fourth bishop of Columbus, James J. Hartley, as a Roman Catholic college and high school seminary. [4] Today, it is an all-male high school serving the Catholic Diocese of Columbus.
In 1929, an elementary school and was built on the grounds of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. It was the first parochial school opened between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, and it was operated by the Sisters of the Congregation of the Immaculate Conception. In 1948, a parochial high school, St. Charles Borromeo High School, opened on the site.

Bishop Hartley had announced in 1923 plans for the erection of a Diocesan Seminary for the preparatory education of boys with a view to fostering vocations for the priesthood. And in order to get the school under way even before the new St. Charles building was completed, school room space was made available at Sacred Heart.
