The Beijing Mall (Chinese: 新燕莎金街购物广场; lit. 'New Yansha Golden Street shopping mall') was a shopping mall at Wangfujing in Beijing, China, using the Phase II building of Beijing Hotel at 301 Wangfujing Street. [1] It is developed by the New Yansha Group, a subsidiary of Beijing Tourism Group, and opened in July 2004. [2]
In English, the mall is nicknamed "Great Mall of China" [2] due to its total area of 560,000 square metres (6 million square feet) over six floors. [2] [4] At 1.5 times the size of the Mall of America, Golden Resources Mall was the world's largest shopping mall from 2004 to 2005. The mall opened on 24 October 2004.
In December 2000, A&W announced new openings in less conventional locations, such as casinos, airports, gas stations, convention centers and convenience stores, for 2001, as part of its growth plans. At the time, the chain had more than 1,000 locations in 47 states and over 200 international locations in 14 countries. [71]
In 2004 it merged with Beijing New Yansha Group (the developer of the Golden Resources Mall), restaurant operators Quanjude and Donglaishun, and the Antique City Group. [4] In 2015 BTG bought the Home Inn hotel chain for 11 billion RMB. [5] In 2016 it had RMB 73 billion in assets and RMB 44 billion in revenue. [6]
